Description

Where Aegis-class Armor takes years of training and experience to master, Wraith-class armor only requires that its bearer own black heart twisted by greed and corruption. These possessed armors grant their bearers nigh invulnerability and the power of shadow at the expense of their human soul. Only among the highest ranked lich are capable of crafting these hellish armors. The whole process takes at least eighty decades to complete just a single suit, requiring the infusion of thousands of ravenous ghost and inter-dimensional theoretical alloys. More often than not the armors are gifted only to the most twisted of tyrannical kings and Queens who have found favor among the Lich, known thereafter as "Corrupters" or "Blackhearts". While Corrupters are not really undead themselves they are still a truly horrific form of opponent to face in combat.

The physical body of a person altered by Wraith-armor becomes a ghost-like slime that feed off the light they come in contact with. All known forms of physical and energy attacks pass straight through their shifting forms leaving not so much as a scratch, though they feel solid enough to anyone on their receiving end. Tendrils of shadow grant the bearer countless additional appendages by which they can use to rip away the very soul of there opponents. While they seem slow moving initially being able to phase instantly in and out of any shadow within a 100 yard range is an incredibly lethal advantage. Their primary weakness is that they are directly linked to the Lich who crafted their armor, meaning they are not capable of wondering very far from their dark masters sides.

Of the five Blackhearts ever encountered by the Paladin elite only one was ever conclusively defeated in battle, where fifty Paladins lost their lives wearing down the creatures’ mental fortitude, and even then only after its progenitor Lich had been successfully destroyed. Were a single Paladin might hold off a hoard of attacking undead in defense of a small village, corrupters seek out sparsely populated regions and turn all of its inhabitance (past and present, animal or human) into twisted forms of undead in preparation of much larger war campaigns. Usually their preferred targets being the very populations they originally swore to reign over justly as kings and queens. The presence of a single Corrupter can quickly lead to the raising of several legions worth of undead monstrosities, more than enough to topple lesser prepared fiefdoms in a single night.
